Legally speaking:

Sissy Nunziata was born in Orlando, Florida (2002). In May of 2024, she graduated Cumme Laude with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts at the University of Colorado Boulder with an emphasis in Sculpture and Post-Studio Practice. Prior to her passion for creating art, Sissy won “Chopped Junior”, a network television cooking competition. While cooking involved creativity, she found that sculpture and clay allowed her to bring her ideas into a more conceptual realm; combining her passion for hands-on creation with story-telling.

Through sculptural bodies of work, along with other forms of mixed media, she intends to create a space for conversation surrounding the personal and societal issues encircling beauty standards, growing up, and bad habits. As she continues to discover the foundation of her practice, Sissy defines her philosophy as a “comedic approach to facing some of life's biggest difficulties” and hopes to create a body of work that “is like a stand-up act; hilarious, narrative, and explicit”. As her practice grows, Sissy aims to pursue a Master’s in Fine Arts with the hopes to teach future generations at the collegiate level.

Currently, Sissy is based out of Brooklyn, New York. She continues building her portfolio through ceramic sculptures and mixed media pieces. As she navigates post-grad in one of the world’s biggest Art Hubs, she aspires to create a dynamic practice and network with fellow aspiring artists in the NYC metro area. As of September 2024, she is a studio potter at Choplet Ceramics Studio where a majority of her whimsical ideas come to fruition! In the coming years, Sissy hopes to relocate to a private space and create large mixed-material pieces and potentially attend graduate school.
