Reflective Box Suit (prototype #1)
box, mirrors, rope
This piece aims to explore an individual's relationship to their everyday environments. Through performance, photography, and object, the Reflective Box Suit explores how an individual is a reflection of their exterior environment.
A rectangular cardboard box is wrapped with reflective sheets and bounded by ropes. When it is put on as an outfit, it creates an homogenous form around an individual resulting in the complete ambiguity of the torso. The mirror sheets provide a warped, almost filtered perspective of the landscape, while the ropes tell a conceptual narrative about being trapped.
What does it mean to be a reflective product of our environment?
Are we imprisoned by it?
